    • Agreed! I think it’s hard to get out of the mindset of a werewolf not being covered entirely in hair. Why not make the actor look like a vicious human with wolf-like physical features?

  1. Hi Siobhan. Thanks for the write up. I agree the werewolf, could have looked better, makes me want to go back and Lucas it (only kidding). We made the film for £500, which meant massive time and budget restrictions, so unfortunately we could only make a very basic kind of puppet.

It’s a shame though as it actually started off well – Check out my original sculpt here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151262894395079.443539.535415078&type=1 Basically I had been working on the sculpt for a year, the actual puppet that came from that sculpt was done in a matter of hours, but you live and learn.

And to add, I am all about physical effects over CGI in movies. It needs to feel physical, visceral, dirty and real. Look how good John Carpenter’s The Thing still looks to this day or Rick Baker’s work in American Werewolf in London.

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to both watch the film and to do the write up, it is much appreciated.

    Keep up the good work.

    • No problem! Hopefully you weren’t offended from my stand against werewolf costumes :). Personally, I’ve never found a werewolf character that I thought looked believable, until the end of your short. Hope this isn’t spoiling it for anyone else, but when the main characters eyes changed it made me wish that this was a full length film. I can’t explain why. Just that little bit of a character showing some characteristics of a werewolf made me wish all werewolves were shot that way (eyes change, teeth change, heightened senses, etc. etc. blah blah blah and maybe all of a sudden they sprout a six pack lol).

      • Ha! Not offended in the slightest. Well, glad we could help you to indulge in your werewolf fantasies there. Though you may want to seek professional help. ; ) Keep up the good work!

  2. Hi Siobhan. Glad you were able to watch and enjoy Bigger and Badder. As I was playing Trevor the dickhead boss I am now traumatised and beyond offended that you hate the shit out of me! Ah well, I suppose it means I must have been doing something right then. But, you know, even us cold-blooded, torture obsessed gangland supremos have feelings; underneath we’re just as sensitive as any werewolf. I’m off to get some therapy now from my underworld support group.

Thanks for your comments and review. Keep spreading the word!
